DOWNLOAD, CREDIT CARD AND REFUND ISSUES

After you have bought the product you are entitled to re-download the program at any time.Please contact us to get instructions. Write to the same address if you would like a refund. Our store is managed by Digital River. Their technology requires that cookies are allowed during the sales process.

LOST PROGRAM FILE

If you downloaded Speedlane and cannot find the program on your disk, use the 'Find' command under the Start button and search for 'Speed'. If you don't find it and need to download it again, please contact us to get instructions.

After you have installed Speedlane, to find and run the program, you press the Windows 'Start' button, select Programs, then the Speedlane folder and then Speedlane. Here you will also find the Uninstaller and links to helpful pages.

INSTALLATION

First download the file onto the desktop. Speedlane 2000 comes with its built-in installation routine. Just double-click it to run. If you downloaded Speedlane and cannot find the program on your disk, use the 'Find' command under the Start button and search for 'Speed'.

If you are upgrading from the shareware version, install the full version in the same directory as the shareware version. If you don't know, just take the directory that the installation routine recommends.

OPERATION

To optimize your computer, run the program and press the 'Optimize' button. If you want to change the optimization, click on one of the buttons above 'Optimize'. Press the 'Help' button at any time you are not sure.

UNINSTALLATION

Press the Start button, select Programs, Speedlane, Uninstall Speedlane. Speedlane will be uninstalled and all of the changes made to your computer by Speedlane will be undone.

SPEED IMPROVEMENTS

You can expect your speed increase to up to 200% after installing Speedlane. Modem users report anywhere between 130% and 350%. ADSL and Cablemodem users report a 'feelable' to 'drastic' speed increase.
You will not see a change in the modem connect speed as seen in the 'Connected' box. This shows the initial connect speed which only depends on your modem and the phone line. You will see and feel changes in the speed with which pages and pictures are loading.

Certain conditions, such as poor phone lines, overloaded servers and network congestions cannot be cured by Speedlane. Although Speedlane will give you a certain amount of improvement in these cases, we recommend changing your method of connecting to the Internet.

HOW DOES SPEEDLANE WORK?

Speedlane works on the internal TCP/IP functionality of Windows. That is where all the Internet traffic passes through after the modem. You will not see a change in the modem connect speed as seen in the 'Connected' box. This shows the initial connect speed which only depends on your modem and phone line.
Speedlane does this by changing the MTU settings and 10 other variables hidden inside Windows to process the TCP/IP protocol in a smoother way.
Speedlane does not pre-load or cache pages because guessing which link you will use next rarely works and places a large load on the Internet and the ISP. If you need this functionality, it is already built into the new versions of Netscape and Internet Explorer.

COMPATIBILITY QUESTIONS

Speedlane works with all versions of Windows and all modems. It applies to 14.4 , 28.8 , 33.6 and 56K modems as well as ISDN, cable modems and ADSL.
It is compatible with all Internet applications, AOL, any browser, any FTP program and any email program.

NETWORK CONSIDERATIONS

If you have a network installed you will need to install Speedlane on every computer on the network that you want to speed up. The license allows you to install Speedlane on several computers if you are the only user. If your network serves multiple users, please buy several copies of the software. Please contact support if you require more than 50 licenses.

SIMILAR SOFTWARE

Several other utilities affect the MaxMTU value in a similar way in order to speed up browsing. None of them changes all of the 11 parameters and many actually modify Windows in an erroneous way. SYSTEM OR PROGRAM MALFUNCTIONS

We are sorry if you have been experiencing difficulties since installing Speedlane. It is possible to set values with Speedlane that slow down Internet or network access and speed. In that case please try other settings.
If you experience difficulties with Windows or other software they are probably not caused by Speedlane. Speedlane modifies registry parameters that are only used by the Windows-internal TCP/IP routines. It does not affect any files or other operations. It is also only run once to modify these parameters and does not run during system startup or browsing.
To test if Speedlane is responsible for your problems, please uninstall Speedlane as described above. If your problems persist, you need to contact the tech support for the software that is affected.

FLOPPY, CD-ROM DELIVERY

We are not sending disks or CD-ROMs, because all our customers per definition have web access, and downloading less than 300 KB is much faster, safer and more serviceable than sending disks. If you ever loose the software, you can reinitiate a download for free as described above.

Speedlane's website does not use cookies. However, when you buy Speedlane we send you to our reseller Digital River. Their website uses cookies to facilitate re-downloads and to remember your name for future downloads. We save your order information internally for future reference and to alert you of upgrades for your product. When you subscribe to an email newsletter we store your email address in an internal database.
